Artificial Intelligence in Education: An Ethical Perspective on Learning Transformation in the Digital Era

Abstrak
The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed various sectors of life, including education, presenting opportunities for innovation as well as complex ethical challenges. The integration of AI into learning offers various benefits, such as personalized learning, increased efficiency in educational processes, and support for the development of 21st-century competencies. However, on the other hand, the use of AI also raises issues regarding academic integrity, data privacy, algorithmic bias, system transparency, and dependence on technology. This study aims to analyze ethical challenges and identify strategic opportunities for the use of Artificial Intelligence in education. The study employs a qualitative approach using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The research data consist of scientific articles obtained from the Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis Online, IEEE Xplore, and ERIC databases, published between 2021 and 2026. After undergoing a process of identification, screening, feasibility evaluation, and selection, a total of 42 articles met the criteria for analysis using thematic analysis. The research findings reveal four main themes: the ethical challenges of AI use, opportunities for transforming learning, changes in the competencies of educators and students, and the implementation of Responsible Artificial Intelligence in education. The findings indicate that AI has great potential to improve the quality of learning through personalization, automation, and expanded access to education. However, the success of its implementation heavily depends on governance that upholds the principles of ethics, transparency, accountability, data protection, and academic integrity. This study concludes that AI should be positioned as a supporting technology that strengthens the role of educators, not as a replacement. Therefore, adaptive policies, improved AI literacy, and the strengthening of digital ethics are needed to realize an innovative, inclusive, and sustainable education system.
